A pre-Father's Day visit to Annabella's II Pizza & Restaurant (Route 202, Morris Plains, 973-998-8857, www.annabellaspizzarestaurant.com) was a last second choice. We had visited the neighboring Dunkin' Donuts, ate a few donuts and drank some coffee, and then discovered that you should never have dessert prior to a meal. So, my wife Lucille and I walked next door, and were greeted kindly by Laura and Lola, cousins and cordial servers at this eatery which also has a sister site on Smith Road in Parsippany. My wife and I satisfied our hunger pangs that afternoon with a slice of pizza each, and it was the first of many trips we've made to the Morris County eatery. Annabella's makes a super chicken ranch wrap with breaded chicken cutlet, lettuce, tomato, onions, topped with bacon and ranch dressing. It's pictured below, and I loved the way the dressing oozed outside the sandwich (and onto my hands). Okay, maybe the "onto my hands" part was messy, but this was a tasty sandwich. My wife Lucille's broccoli rabe grilled chicken sandwich with fresh mozzarella and sautéed broccoli rabe was suitable for sharing -- and the Sears family always shares their food amongst the table during each dining visit.
Highly recommended for those who visit is baked penne bolognese with meat sauce and mushrooms. Excellent entrée. All the above cuisine details declared, it's the service at either Annabella's location that sparkles. Both family owned and operated, service is always friendly. A very comfortable dining experience. Steve
